Arthur Hills Brayfield was a professor of psychology and the author of numerous books and publications on the topic of job and counseling psychology. In 1951, as a faculty member of the University of California, Berkeley (Assistant Professor of Education, Counseling Psychology), he refused to sign a loyalty oath and was terminated. From 1962-68 he served as the Executive Officer of the American Psychologial Association. From 1968 on he was the chair of the Department of Psychology, Claremont Graduate School.
